ULM Visual and Performing Arts
Sound of Today and Theater&DanceWorks
The mission of the School of Visual and Performing Arts is to provide student-centered training to students in the arts; to offer curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities for all students; and to provide cultural activities, special events and performances for the university community, area patrons and people throughout the region. Representing ULM VAPA this year are the Sound of Today band ensemble and a troupe from Theater&DanceWorks. The ULM Sound of Today is one of the most recognized college bands in the United States and on March 17, 2009 marched in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland in front of a crowd of over 700,000 people. Look for them during the festival’s opening ceremonies and for impromptu shows around the grounds, throughout both days. Student-actors from Theater&DanceWorks, under the direction of Kyle Zimmerman, join us on the Celtic Children’s Pavilion Stage for one-acts specially tailored for this event.
